Your Legacy
The time is now to show your support...The William Fogg Library is your legacy to your children and future generations. The library is entering a new chapter in its century of service. Consider the pleasures a library brings...
For 100 years, we have brought the world of books to the people of Eliot. Great works of literature, famous deeds of history, visits to exotic lands, and popular tales of romance and mystery have transported our readers time and again. Who has not enjoyed the cozy pleasure of a book, whether on a cold winter’s day, or when sprawled lazily under a shade tree in summer? Books are part of the fabric of our lives, bringing us both education and enjoyment, and we are proud to open the doors to these riches.
The library is also a place of culture and enrichment, offering a wide range of programs for all ages. On any given day, visit the library and see children from toddlers to pre-schoolers gathered around for story time. Listen to them gasp with surprise or chortle with laughter as the story unfolds. The magic of books weaves its spell once again.
Afterwards, watch their happy concentration as they create at our crafts table, and see the wonder on their faces as they check out their first book.
Later in the day, the library bustles with activity as older children, from elementary to teens, come gather information for school reports and projects. Some peruse the stacks, while others are busy on the computer looking up data. Many seek out our librarians, who quickly help them find the resources they need.
Evenings are always active. Individuals and families amble about searching for that perfect book to curl up with. Others may be attending a special program, a book club meeting, a history discussion, or if it’s after the New Year, seeking assistance in tax preparation. Whatever the need, we are there to help.

We are happily busy nearly every day. The library is open more hours than ever before--32 hours per week! We have more services, more programs, more books, and as a result, more staff. We have accomplished much, but there is so much more we hope to do.
As we approach our 100th anniversary in May 2007, we need your help. We must make plans for this next exciting chapter in our lives. We need to ensure that future generations will continue to enjoy all the programs and services we offer now. We want to expand on all of our offerings so that we can continue to enrich the people we serve.
An endowment is essential if we are to fulfill this commitment. In the past, you have graciously pledged your support. We hope we can count on you once again. A new century awaits. Please help us embark on the next hundred years with the assurance of a strong future.
We thank you for your gift.
