Hand Crafted Table Raffle

A beautifully handcrafted wooden table generously donated by Bruce Higley and his family. Raffle tickets for a chance to win are only $10 with the money going towards our efforts to upgrade the blinds in the Kent Room. Tickets are available at the front desk!

In September We Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month

The American Library Association is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month and so is William Fogg Library! The celebration has been held by the ALA since 1987 in effort to cut down illiteracy rates, encourage communities to come together at the library, and mark the beginning of the school year. You can do so much with a library card. No matter your age, interest, or background, the library has something to offer you! Everyone who signs up in the month of September will be able to add their name to our music staff and celebrate their new library card, no matter what their rhythm is!

To be eligible to receive a free William Fogg Library Card you must be a resident of Eliot, South Berwick, or Rollinsford. Eliot landowners, Town of Eliot employees, as well students and employees of Eliot school district in RSU #35 are also eligible. Non-residents are subject to a fee. For more information on William Fogg library cards, feel free to ask at the front desk!

Important Announcements for September:

The library will be closed September 1st for a program planning meeting and September 5th to observe the Labor Day Holiday. Sorry for any inconvenience, we appreciate your continued support.

The library will also be closed on September 26th for Eliot Festival Day. Come find our booth and say hello!

September Programming:

There will be no Storytime sessions this week, August 30th through September 5th. We will resume next week with our fall schedule. The first session of the new schedule will be on Tuesday, September 8th. The incoming fall schedule is pictured to the right.

September Adult Fiction Book Club: Spectacular Things by Beck Dorsey-Stein

Tech Support

The library will be providing a space for one on one support with technology issues and questions. September’s date is Wednesday the 2nd from 10 AM to 12 PM.

This program is held the first Wednesday of every month!

Craft Night

This month we will be making books covers. All materials are provided by the library. Stop in any time Thursday, September 3rd from 6 PM to 7 PM.

American Mahjong Course

Whether you’re completely new or looking to refresh your skills, this class will cover the basics of gameplay, tiles, strategies, and etiquette in a relaxed, social atmosphere. Dungeons and Dragons

Adventurers Wanted! Starting Thursday, September 10th, D&D will be held weekly in the Kent Room from 5 PM to 7 PM.

Mending Circle

This month’s Mending Circle will be on Thursday, September 10th at 6 PM. Bring in any worn clothes or items that need some fixing. No experience needed! Hosted by enthusiastic mender, Rachel.

Financial Planning Pre and Post Retirement

We are hosting financial advisor and fiduciary, Stephanie Greenlaw, as she gives an expert seminar to help you boost your confidence while planning your finances - before retirement, after retirement, and everything in between. Registration information can be found on our website, social media, or scan the QR code to the left! The presentation will be Saturday, September 12th at 10 AM.

Hora del Cuento (Spanish Storytime)

On Saturday, September 12th at 10:30 AM, there will be a special Spanish Storytime. There will be a story and music for ages 5 and younger. Lyrics will be provided.

Native Plants and Invasive Species Presentation

The library is hosting Jill Crosbie from Great Works Land Trust. She will be sharing helpful resources, and answer gardening questions. The program is a part of Celebrate York River Month with the York River Stewardship Committee. It will be from 6 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, September 17th.

Marine Debris Art Program: Turning Trash into Treasure

On Saturday, September 19th at 1 PM we will be making art out of items removed from the ocean waters. The program is presented by the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation and in partnership with Celebrate York River Month. Supported by funding from the York River Stewardship Committee.

Family Game Night

Head to the library for our monthly open game night. Fun for all ages! We have a fantastic collection of games or bring your own! Thursday, September 24th at 6 PM.

Eliot Festival Days

Eliot Festival Day is a community event with crafts, food, games, music, lots of different booths, and more. The William Fogg Library will have a booth at the festival on Saturday, September 26th. Come check out our calendar of activities and our catalogue for all kinds of adventures. This year we will be promoting the library’s Green & Beautiful Campaign with games, prizes and make & takes for the kids.
